№ 01Run a smarter store — inventory & operations for independent grocers

Every case.Every shelf.Accounted for.

PalletRow runs the back office of an independent grocery store — what came in, what sold, what spoiled, and what to order before Thursday’s truck.

02A day in the store

Built around the day you actually have.

Not a warehouse system shrunk down, and not a register with a stock count bolted on. PalletRow follows a grocery store from the first delivery to the last register sync — and remembers all of it.

6:40 am

The truck is early.

Receive against the purchase order on a phone at the dock. Shorts and substitutions are recorded line by line.

→ Receiving

9:15 am

Aisle four gets counted.

Scan the shelf with a handheld or a phone. Variances go to a manager before they touch the numbers.

→ Counting

11:00 am

Yogurt is dated Friday.

A markdown by lot, sent for approval because it drops margin below your floor.

→ Pricing · Approvals

2:30 pm

Thursday’s order goes out.

Suggestions built from real demand become a PO the supplier opens as a clean PDF.

→ Purchasing

5:50 pm

Cilantro didn’t make it.

Waste is logged with a reason, so you can tell bad luck from over-ordering.

→ Waste

10:00 pm

The registers report in.

Sales from Square, Clover, Shopify POS or a signed feed land against the right store.

03The ledger

On-hand is never typed in. It’s the sum of what happened.

Every unit that moves — received, sold, counted, transferred, thrown away — is an entry with a who, a when and a why. When a number looks wrong, you can read exactly how it got there, line by line.

04Forecasting

Zero sales during a stockout isn’t zero demand.

Most systems average what you sold and quietly teach you to order less after every empty shelf. PalletRow reconstructs what would have sold, so one bad week of availability doesn’t become a bad month.

Fig. 2 — Demand with a four-day stockout reconstructed. Sample data.

05Buying

Know what a case really cost you.

Freight and duty are spread across the lines they belong to, so margin is measured against what it took to get the product onto your shelf — not the number on the invoice.

  1. Purchase orders built from reorder suggestions, sent as a PDF your supplier can open.
  2. Receiving line by line — partials, shorts and cost changes land in the ledger.
  3. Shipments track inbound containers for stores that import directly.

06Barcode scanning

Scan anything a grocery store prints.

Receive a truck, count an aisle or pull up a product with whatever scanner is already in the building — a handheld, a USB or Bluetooth gun, or a phone camera. Nothing to install; it runs in the browser.

Fig. 3 — One field, every kind of label. Sample data.

01

Handheld & wedge scanners

USB and Bluetooth guns work the moment they are paired, and Zebra and Honeywell handhelds work in browser mode. PalletRow tells a scan from typing by its speed, so nobody’s keystrokes get swallowed.

02

The phone camera

On Android phones and tablets the camera is the scanner. Safari on iPhone and iPad has no built-in barcode reader — pair a Bluetooth scanner or type the code, and the app says so plainly.

03

Deli and produce labels

Price- and weight-embedded scale labels are read for their item code, so every package of goat meat finds the same product, and a weighed item counts in pounds.

04

Cases, not just units

Scan the case code on a shipper and it counts as a case where you’ve set one up, and still finds the product if only the unit barcode was ever entered. Check digits are verified on every scan.

07The whole store

One workspace. No modules to buy.

Every plan includes the full operating core. Plans differ mainly by how many stores and people you run — not by which half of the product you’re allowed to use.

08Trust

Your costs are the business. They’re kept that way.

Margins, supplier terms and landed costs are the most sensitive numbers a grocer writes down. PalletRow protects them in the database itself — not just in a policy page.

01

Isolated

Every workspace is walled off by row-level security in the database. The server refuses to start if that protection is off.

02

Audited

Prices, counts, orders and permissions are recorded with who changed them and when.

03

Approved

Decide which changes need a second pair of eyes. Nothing writes until it clears.

04

Portable

Your catalog and history arrived as files, and they can leave the same way.

09Pricing
